OTTAWA – Conservative members and officials are sticking by leader Pierre Poilievre for now, insisting they will only vote to remove him if the voters give indication they don’t like him.
“I’ve had my doubts about Pierre’s electability” said MP Clancy Meyer. “But until the nation’s voters have an opportunity to make their stance clear, we need to give him a chance.”
“The sign from voters could be anything. By-elections, polls, a national election where the party was polling in majority territory just months earlier. Whatever it is. We are listening.”
Conservatives insist Poilievre deserves stay on as leader, citing his successful performance review by Party delegates hand-picked to support him in his performance review.
“What, are you telling me a bunch of party insiders obsessed with ‘owning the Libs’ may look differently than the general public at a man who has been a party insider obsessed with ‘owning the Libs’ all his adult life?,” said Alberta party chair Keith Pederson. “Let’s just give him a chance.”
“Frankly I think the whole ‘Poilievre leadership is in trouble’ story is just a bullshit fabrication by the liberal media,” said party member Monica Scolani. “We just need to give him a chance… On top of all the chances we have previously given him.”
At press time a focus group of voters explaining why they could not support Poilievre had been cancelled after Conservative insiders burst in the room with their fingers in their ears shouting ‘la la la la I am not LISTENING!”
