OTTAWA – Disturbed Canadians took to the internet to voice their thoughts about the breaking story involving gun violence at a daycare in Gatineau today, but were confused about where Gatineau was located in the United States.
“They usually tell you which state it’s in right in the headline so this is weird,” a Calgary mother of three said while she read through the article on the CBC website.
“It’s probably in Texas,” said Diane McPherson from Hamilton. “They love guns down there. When will Americans learn to put down their guns and talk things out?”
Other Canadians were quick to point out how the country does not have a gun violence problem like the pro-gun culture in the US.
“Michael Moore was right,” Maurice Maisonneuve said referring to Moore’s documentary Bowling for Columbine. “Canada is so much better off. I’m happy to live in a country where the lives of our children are protected from gun-toting maniacs.”
After spending over 30min unsuccessfully trying to figure out the US location of Gatineau using Google Maps, Yahoo Maps and Wikipedia, the nation closed its eyes and sat silently.
