MILAN – Following the leaking of locker room footage of the gold medal winning USA team receiving a call from US President Donald Trump with congratulations, footage has now come to light of Canadian PM Mark Carney calling the silver medal Canadian team with sound investment advice.
While the call between President Trump and the US team has received criticism for its overtly sexist remarks towards the American women’s team, the call with Carney has received criticism for being “wildly boring”. Several exhausted Canadian players can be seen crying over the loss, while others can be seen in the video falling asleep to the melodic financial advice of the former banker.
“I have no idea what he was going on about” said Connor McDavid. “I was thinking about what I could’ve done to win, some of the younger guys are just crushed, and Carney just keeps mentioning that with our current vs late in life income we’ll want to defer taxes”. Most economists agree that the advice, while financially sound, was not the vibe that room needed.
“With those knee issues you’ve got to keep in mind that medical expense tax credit is a non-refundable tax credit…” droned Mark Carney to team Captain Sidney Crosby, who was taking notes.
Eventually the players, having changed and showered, filed out quietly while the Prime Minister continued to talk. Athletes and reporters assume he eventually wore himself out and hung up.
The video also shows CSIS Director Daniel Rogers standing quietly off in a corner, as neither he nor any of the players understood why he would be present in an Olympic locker room.
