Undergrad spends $3000 on booze to celebrate arrival of OSAP loan

PETERBOROUGH – Upon being offered a loan for his tuition fee with government aid, a third year undergraduate student celebrated with a $3,000 -fueled .

21 year-old Owen Blais, a student at Trent University, purchased several kegs and countless bottles of liquor from a local LCBO to celebrate with and friends-of-friends after learning his credit was extended.

“Students have rough” Blais said with a mixed drink in hand. “The cost of has taken its toll on all of us. I’m happy to know that I can afford school for another semester and now that I have the money, I can throw a party.”

Blais received a $8,000 loan from the government to pay for $4,500 annual tuition, $2,000 in books, $3,200 in rent and $1,600 in . With enough left over, Blais states he will be able to take a Reading Week trip to Mexico.

“It’s just like that Twain guy said,” a more inebriated Blais slurred. “‘Don’t let math get in the way of your education.’”
