MONTREAL – Despite efforts to reflect on the federal leaders debate for the 2025 election, any analysis was cut short due to repeated interruptions from NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh.
The debate kicked off at 7pm EST, with all four leaders gathering to discuss Canada’s response to Trump, housing affordability, and okay, we can’t even finish writing this sentence because Mr. Singh is now shouting in our faces about how much Mark Carney and Pierre Poilievre both love pipelines and want to marry a pipeline.
Prime Minister Carney drew the majority of the debate’s fire, while outlining a bold plan to build thousands of new homes that will also immediately become unaffordable, and, yup, Jagmeet… if we could just… if we could just… Yeah, we know about the tax havens…
Meanwhile, opposition leader Pierre Poilievre pinky-swear-promised not to suspend the Charter Rights of any Canadians who vote for him, while attacking Carney on… aaand now Jagmeet Singh is marching back and forth in front of our press table crashing a pair of cymbals we assume he brought from home, reminding us that dental care was a thing that the NDP accomplished… yes… yes, it’s already in the article, dude!
Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet spent most of the debate making fun of Mark Carney’s Duolingo-level english from the previous night’s French language debate, while moderator… No, Mr. Singh, that’s not relevant to what is being repor… if we could just…
Okay, for real, now he’s somehow paired his phone to the speaker system and is blasting Gary Glitter’s ‘Rock and Roll Part 2’, all while shouting about how “the NDP is an actual factual party that Canadians can vote for”… Anyway, as we were saying before our sentence was finished by Mr. Singh, the most pressing issues… MY GUY! Will you shut up? We have a story to…
Okay, okay, where were we? Oh right, the evening’s other story that overshadowed the debate was a last-minute decision by the debate chief to cancel the post-debate media scrum, allegedly due to Ezra Levant and his various Rebel Media goons throwing spitballs in the press pen… well, now Jagmeet Singh is doing cartwheels to interrupt us writing about THEIR interruption, which is weirdly meta, but certainly on brand.
At press time NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is ducking out because he has an early start at the Bay Street law firm he just accepted a job at.
