Calgary unveils new slogan just in time for wildfire season

– City officials have announced that Calgary’s official slogan will change to “Blue Sky City”, just in time for the beginning of the province’s annual Wildfire Season.

“We felt that Calgary’s brand as a city was due for a refresh,” notes Jyoti Gondek, “and what better time to declare ourselves the Blue Sky City than weeks or even days before our skies are regularly blotted out orange with thick wildfire smoke.”

“Smoke, which I may add, was also produced locally,” added Gondek.

With enacting fire restriction as wildfire conditions grow extreme, fuelled by local droughts, many across the province feel this is the perfect time for the Blue Sky City rebrand.

“With Alberta’s exciting Wildfire Season beginning earlier every year,” explained Alberta Premier , “ was important for Calgary to make this change as quickly as possible.”

“Personally I preferred Calgary’s old slogan, ‘Be Part Of The Energy’, but that seemed to invite certain smartypants to think too hard about how the energy industry relates to our energy sector,” Smith added. “Anyway, go tar sands!”

Sources indicate that “Blue Sky City” narrowly beat out other slogans including “Come Barf At The Stampede!”, “The Mountains Aren’t That Far Away”, and “Peter’s Drive-In Is NOT Overrated!”
