VANCOUVER – Local man Dominic Derkins was furious at the refs for missing an obvious call in last night’s game, wondering if they are hard of sight while he and all other hockey fans are currently doing their best not to see how far right figures are turning to hockey as their sport of choice.
“That was tripping! The replay shows it clear as day,” said Derkins as he scrolled past tweets from Eric and Donald Trump Jr. praising NHL players for standing during the American anthem in order to find video of the alleged offence.
“It’s like the refs are trying to look away!” he added as he sped up past the comments from dudes with confederate flag avatars saying hockey is their new favourite sport.
Though Derkins knows refs can’t call minor offences like a soft slash or the culture of institutional racism in hockey, he still expects them to blow the whistle on the major calls.
“it’s not just their job, it’s their obligation as human beings to point out when something isn’t right!”
Derkins added that everything would be so much better if only Don Cherry was still on the air.
