TORONTO – Local man Matt Faskins has visited his friend in London, England more often than he has his friend in London, ON since each moved away 6 years ago.
“Back in University me, Simon and Dave were inseparable,” said Faskins. “Unfortunately Dave moved all the way to London so I don’t really see him anymore. Good thing Simon is just a quick 5 hour plane ride away!”
“Once you get into your thirties you really have to put in the effort to make your friendships last,” said Faskins who has visited London, ON exactly once and spent the entire time complaining about an accident on the 401 that delayed the journey by 23 minutes.
Faskins has regularly spent thousands of dollars and taken weeks of his life to visit his UK based friend, despite the fact that he was actually closer friends with the one who moved a bit west of where he lives.
“I mean I’d have to make sure my car was filled with gas and the tires were inflated, then drive for hours, all so we could eat at a Keg and talk about The London Knights, Fanshawe Pioneer village and how much Western Students suck? Maybe next year.”
For his part Dave doesn’t understand why Faskins is so reluctant to visit. “London is great! We’ve got great bars and restaurants to check out! Plus some local friends of mine got me turned on to this guy named Q and I think Matty would love hearing about it!”
