OTTAWA – Remarking with a heavy sigh, an aging OC Transpo bus that was called up from an impending retirement due to the LRT’s failings is “getting too old for this shit.”
For 27 years, the articulated bus was the workhorse for the local transportation agency serving for five years with the distinguished 195 route.
The diesel-powered vehicle was all set to retire with a full pension and a nice spot in a depot yard, but Ottawa’s LRT had different ideas.
“I had 8 days left, just 8 days!” yelled the frustrated transit vehicle to his younger, hot-headed route partner. “My suspension is shot and I can barely get up to speed. No, no. I can’t do this.
“Just because my doors still open and close properly doesn’t make me better than a $2.1 billion light rail transit, does it?”
The rusting bus is back for another action-packed adventure of public transportation, and this time, it’s more inefficient than ever.
Meanwhile, OC Transpo was advising commuters that if they want to be on time for work, they should just move to a different city.
