VANCOUVER – In an ad posted to craigslist this morning, online shopping giant Amazon announced that it is seeking a roommate to help cover the exorbitant lease of its new Vancouver headquarters.
The online retailer is expected to move into the old Canada Post building on West Georgia Street, which “is (unfortunately) not pet-friendly, but is located within walking distance from bus stops, restaurants, and something called a ‘library’.”
“We’re looking for someone chill, laid back, and who maybe works elsewhere during the day,” the ad reads, “as we are going to have 3000 people in there from 6am to about midnight 24/7.”
The posting also states that “your share of the rent should be about $40,000 per month, plus utilities, and obviously we’ll go halfsies on the wifi.”
Perspective roommates are expected to sign a five-year lease and be ready to move in by 2022.
