Via Rail’s Canada 150 passes delayed until 2019

– Despite their best efforts to get them printed and shipped, confirmed this morning that they would be delaying their youth passes until 2019.

“I know 152 doesn’t quite have the same ring,” said CEO Yves Desjardins-Siciliano. “But we only had 150 years to prepare these tickets. That is simply not enough time for Via Rail.”

The delay is due to several factors, including Via’s only laser printer breaking down, a previously planned 6 month holiday for all company executives, and the unfortunate decision to order the tickets from Bombardier.

“To be clear, 2019 is a best-case scenario,” explained Desjardins-Siciliano. “But on the plus side we’ll almost definitely have these ready for Canada 200. Probably.”

However, despite the delays Via Rail has been commended for exposing young Canadians to the nation’s rich tradition of being disappointed by Via Rail.
