WHITBY — A delighted local pumpkin has expressed mounting excitement about getting to see his first Jack-o-Lantern this Halloween.
“From the minute they [the Henderson family, the pumpkin’s purchasers] brought me home from the patch and gave me this cool spot on the porch, I knew Halloween was going to be great! I’ve been listening to them talk about how terrific the big night is going to be, with the neighbours decorating their houses and the kids getting to put on scary costumes. And to cap it off, we’re going to get something called a Jack-o-Lantern to let all the kids know that we have lots of candy for them, because we love Halloween! I can’t wait!”
The 14-month old pumpkin was unable to provide details of what the Jack-o-Lantern would look like or be made of, but it was confident that “it’ll be fun to look at and will be really bright and happy I bet!”
The pumpkin did indulge in some speculation about what the Jack-o-lantern could be. “I overheard Mr. Henderson tell Tommy that it might have a triangle eye with jagged teeth and a big scar this year, so maybe it’s like a cool scary robot lamp! I bet we can still be friends though!”
The pumpkin’s excitement was not limited to Halloween, however.
“If Halloween is this great, I bet I’ll have an even better time at Christmas!”
