TORONTO – A downtown Pizza Pizza franchise on Queen St. E. suffered thousands of dollars in lost sales over the weekend trying to honour its time guarantee of delivering a pizza in less than 40 minutes or else the order is free.
Franchise manager Hector Hernandez, 41, was initially confident about the time guarantee. “I didn’t cancel the guarantee over the weekend because I really thought we could do this. I had a pep talk with my drivers, and we all felt really good about the whole thing,” Hernandez said. “When you feel good about something you just gotta follow your gut.”
“Those police blockades really slowed us down.” Hernandez continued. “What can you do? You win some, you lose some. That’s business.”
