EDMONTON – Following a Breitbart podcast interview where Danielle Smith recalled requesting the Trump administration pause tariffs in order to help Pierre Poilievre’s campaign, the Alberta Premier insisted this did not amount to foreign interference, “or at least it won’t count once Canada joins the USA”.
While many political observers are decrying Smith for attempting to broker collusion between the Poilievre campaign Trump Administration, the Premier insists she was only acting in good faith as an “patriotic American-in-waiting.”
“Sure, this may look like I was soliciting foreign interference in Canada’s election, which I guess Pierre has made something of a fuss about in the past,” noted Smith, appearing on another Breitbart podcast to clear up misconceptions from her previous Breitbart appearance.
“But this’ll all be water under the bridge once Pierre Poilievre becomes Prime Minister and immediately agrees for Canada to become the 51st American state,” Smith added. “Problem solved!”
Smith then asked to pause the interview in order to respond to a dozen frantic text messages from the Poilievre campaign headquarters.
Premier Smith then promised to put in another good word for Poilievre on her next taxpayer-funded trip down to Mar-A-Lago.
At press time the famously-combative Poilievre has distanced himself from Trump by referring to the US president as “a real tough customer”.
