TORONTO – Months after being rescued from a stranded cruise by the Canadian government, snowbirds Adriel and Harold Glatterbee are looking to be plucked from the deadly grip of the coronavirus from an even more exotic location this winter.
“I hear there’s a good three month time share in Mexico we could fly to,” said 70-year-old Adriel who will likely be hospitalized if she contracts the coronavirus due to her heart condition. “But Harold and I are thinking of something even more rustic like Peru.”
The migrational retirees said they understood the risks of COVID-19 especially in the locations that have nice beaches they can relax on while overwhelmed health care systems crumble around them.
“We’re taking every precaution to avoid crowds unless there’s a cheap deal on concert tickets,” said Harold.
The couple is hoping they can use their Air Miles to upgrade their seats when the Canadian military flies them back to Canada.
