MONTREAL — The Just for Laughs management is getting major flack this year after surprising festival goers with a parade of fraternal twins.
Yesterday’s ‘Twins Parade’, which in past years had included exclusively identical twins, was composed this year of hundreds of people who vaguely looked like they might be related. Although the spirit of the parade remained largely unchanged, the result left something to be desired. Hoping for a good freak show, many parade watchers left early.
An inside source at Just for Laughs suggested that senior management asked for something different from planners this year after 18 years of the same format. The source specified, however, that the idea itself came from a disgruntled employee hoping to be fired.
“I want to see some freaky twins!” yelled spectator and Dawson College student Gordon Lacroix. “What a waste of some perfectly good acid.”
The Just for Laughs festival, which runs through July and August, will feature some changes this year, including 18 percent more Dave Chappelle and 23 percent fewer jokes.
