OTTAWA – NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May slammed Justin Trudeau’s hypocrisy for purchasing the Trans Mountain Pipeline claiming that he should have taken their position and constructed oilsand refineries in Alberta.
“Climate change leaders don’t waste billions of dollars on a dangerous pipeline,” said NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh to a group of supporters. “They waste billions of dollars on dangerous oilsand refineries furthering our dependence on a dirtier source of oil.”
Singh explained that Canadian jobs should be destroying the Canadian environment from extraction to refining, and every step in between.
“Greta Thunberg poetically called on all of us to end these fairy tales of eternal economic growth, but I don’t remember her saying anything about oil refineries,” added the NDP leader.
At a campaign stop in Regina, Elizabeth May told members of the media that the greenhouse gases released in the atmosphere from the country’s bitumen is much lower than other countries because “Canada and we’re Canadians.”
“Our economy needs to make the transition from relying on foreign fossil fuels to being even more reliant on Canadian fossil fuels,” said May. “I can assure you there will be no new pipelines that get in the way of the oil industry’s many train derailments.”
According to sources, both political parties will continue its election strategy of giving different solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problem, but with the same results.
