TORONTO – Ontario Premier Doug Ford denounced the federal government for not testing his cabinet minister Rod Phillips and others who are returning from international vacations.
Phillips was reportedly not given any kind of COVID test after ignoring advice not to travel from public health officials.
“I’m extremely alarmed that only 25% of my caucus members reported quarantining after travelling outside the country,” explained Ford at a press conference. “There are photos of [Phillips] on Twitter show him interacting with members of the public dated on the day he should have been in quarantine! Somebody has to be held accountable!”
Ford renewed his promise that if the federal government isn’t going to start a testing program, he will find a more competent province to do it.
“If negligent people, like sworn MPPs entrusted with managing Ontario’s budget, can walk the streets after arriving from a coronavirus hotbed, we have a huge problem,” added Ford.
Meanwhile, Rod Phillips explained that if he ever heard of the coronavirus, he would have never travelled.
