LOS ANGELES – Following the lifetime ban of owner Don Sterling, the Los Angeles Clippers have announced that their new owner will be Bashar al-Assad, the current President of Syria.
“The Clippers organization is deeply embarrassed by the racism and prejudice of our former owner,” read a statement from GM Gary Sacks. “We hope that with Mr. Assad we can move past this ugliness and embrace a more tolerant future.”
While Don Sterling was known for his bigoted beliefs, al-Assad has worked with many different cultures throughout his political career. The Clippers organization hopes that this experience will aid the democratically elected leader in his tenure as Clippers owner.
At press time, controversy had struck when a leaked recording emerged of al-Assad asking his wife Asma to take down all Instagram photos of her standing next to canisters of Sarin gas.
