NANAIMO, BC – The Russell family was saved from another full night of sleep when their cat, Mittens began meowing for no apparent reason at 4 in the morning.
“We were all just peacefully laying in our beds when it happened”, said Henry Russell, the father of the exhausted family. “Luckily Mittens started crying and prevented any of us from falling into REM sleep.”
Henry’s wife, Sarah, was the first to get up and checked on the cat to see if he was in need of food and water but his dishes were still full. The brave feline continued to meow until both her husband and their daughter, Jesse were forced out of their beds to see what was going on.
“I was so scared I thought Mittens was hurt”, remarked drowsy daughter, Jesse, “but when I came running out of my room, Mittens just walked around the kitchen knocking over items close to the edge of the counter.”
The family tried to thank the animal for its service but the cat jumped into the closet and fell asleep immediately.
“That’s what a real hero does,” commented matriarch, Sarah as she slowly nodded off before suddenly snapping back to attention saying, “wait, was I just driving? I’m so fucking tired.”
At press time Mittens was still fast asleep as the Russell Family accidently poured orange juice into their Cheerios.
