GUELPH, ON – In the wake of a military coup d’etat in Thailand that has thrown the country into chaos as protesters and soldiers do battle in the streets, local woman Steffanie Bruner has admitted that she is “filled with fear” that people might die and that other people might not get to go to Thailand on vacation like they had been planning for years.
“It’s been terrible,” said the 26 year old paralegal. “I’ve just been lying awake at night thinking like, ‘what if the military starts shooting the people protesting’ or like, ‘what if this situation isn’t resolved in time to get a full refund on an August 20th flight to Phuket that… somebody might have worked really hard to save money for!”
Steffanie’s concern for the Thai people has caused her to write several facebook posts bemoaning the military’s actions, and its consequences for “innocent people, who have done nothing wrong and just want freedom, like the freedom to party with their Girlz!”
Steffanie has also raised awareness of the issue among friends and family, signed online petitions causing for an end to the turmoil, and checked the price of an all inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic several times.
At press time, Woodbridge resident Vinnie Spinollo was equally concerned that the extreme poverty and hunger present in Brazil might distract Italy during the World Cup.
