OTTAWA – The University of Ottawa’s has been forced to delay the opening its faculty of governance studies due to the bureaucratic process.
“Despite our foresight to build a national, non-partisan school for those pursuing a career in the civil service, we lost the data stick that had the strategic plan on it” said University of Ottawa’s President and former Liberal Cabinet Minister Allan Rock. “I can assure our stakeholders and future students that we are handling the situation and the delay should only last approximately two to three years.”
The School’s budget was originally projected at $15 million, but has inflated to $150 million after unexpected operations and maintenance costs.
The delays didn’t deter some students like Leslie Chatham from registering for a Governance Student Candidate Permit, the first step in the application process to be accepted.
“I’m really excited about the curriculum” Chatham explained while waiting in line to submit her photocopied documents at the Student Recruitment Access Centre. “They have courses in Signing Documents 101, Risk Aversion Training 311 and Understanding and Applying Bureaucratic Strategic Doublespeak in Institutional Settings 541-a-2.”
After waiting for four hours in line, Chatham’s enthusiasm was crushed when she was told the photo she brought for her permit was invalid since she was smiling in it.
