TORONTO – Longtime TTC streetcar driver Morris Stollery was late to start his shift on Wednesday, a fact he blamed on Toronto’s poor public transportation system.
“The transit situation in this city has just gotten ridiculous,” said Stollery as his streetcar rolled past a stop with dozens of people waiting. “I mean, as taxpayers and customers, shouldn’t we demand better?”
Pressed for what specific changes he would make to the service, Stollery suggested “self-driving buses,” making the drivers’ chairs more comfortable to nap in and only allowing a maximum of 12 people on his streetcar at any time.
