TORONTO – Despite pleas from all his sane family members not to go through with it, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has invested thousands of household dollars to build a model subway line linking his basement rec room to his basement storage room.
“Yes, I could have gone with the much cheaper option to have the mini train go above ground, which is what all my family members wanted, but then it would have to circle around the laundry machine and that would just add annoying seconds to the trip,” the mayor explained of his costly train set, which has divided the Ford household for over a year.
“Plus one of my uncles from Mississauga wanted it to go underground,” he added.
Although the model subway line has earned Ford scorn from numerous family members and caused expensive foundation and pipe damages to his house, it has not deterred him from following through with even more unpopular plans to remove his wife’s exercise bike and replace it with a four-lane Hot Wheels toll expressway.
