OTTAWA – Pierre Poilievre is demanding the TFW program be scrapped, in order for him to ride a wave of public resentment over immigrant labour into the Prime Minister’s office before quietly reinstating the program to benefit his corporate donors.
“I am calling on Prime Minister Carney to eliminate the Temporary Foreign Worker program, despite the fact that I support it just as much as he does and will 100% keep it going when I’m Prime Minister,” explained Poilievre to a crowd of enthusiastic CPC supporters.
“It’s not because the TFW program makes it harder for regular Canadians to get jobs, or because it allows business owners to abuse vulnerable foreign labour, but because it is politically disadvantageous for my opponent to be attacked with it at this particular moment,” Poilievre implored, as the crowd cheered.
Poilievre acknowledged that the TFW program was started under Stephen Harper’s government, and that neither his recent Conservative platform or the current Liberal Government have discussed any tangible plans to remove the program. Still, the Opposition Leader continued his relentless attack.
“I promise young Canadians that I suddenly care very deeply about this issue, despite never mentioning it once during the spring campaign, or ever before in Parliament,” yelled Poilievre. “What you know I care more about than anything is attacking Mark Carney’s vulnerabilities in whatever way is most politically expedient!”
The MP from Battle River-Crowfoot continued, “It’s time to finally place the blame for the Temporary Foreign Worker program where it belongs: On the guy who’s been Prime Minister for five months, AND on the desperate immigrants we invite to our country to work at rock bottom wages, and definitely NOT on the monied business interests who have lobbied Parliament for years to keep the Temporary Foreign Worker program in place!”
Observers have noted that the Temporary Foreign Worker program allows businesses to hire immigrant workers for entry level sub-living-wage jobs, just by claiming not to be able to find any Canadian applicants. At his rally, Poilievre promised to keep doing exactly that, once he makes Mark Carney “eat shit for it”.
“I vow to stop letting the TFW program benefit liberal corporate elites, because they will soon be conservative corporate elites,” Poilievre thundered, before leading the crowd in a 12-minute chant of “Axe the tax!”
At press time, Prime Minister Carney was hard at work helping the business lobby use AI to replace all the TFWs they used to replace Canadian workers.
