Dartmouth, NS – 6 months in, local man Jackson Martin has been reduced to looking back with nostalgia at the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Remember back in March when we were kind of excited to not go to work and everyone was just baking so much fucking bread,” said Martin, sitting alone in the one bedroom apartment that has been his whole world for half a year. “Man, those were the days.”
“And quiplash! Remember how much fun quiplash was the first 2 to 3 times you played before you grew to hate it and everyone involved in making it.”
This many months into lockdown Martin, like so many people, is no longer even reminiscing about life before quarantine. Instead he is simply remembering what quarantine was like before he finished Netflix and every zoom invite caused him panic attacks.
“Sure it would be nice to hug my friends who aren’t part of my bubble but you know what I really miss: when everyone was tweeting about Tiger King,” said Martin before emitting a soft whimper for 30 seconds.
Martin then excused himself to scroll through texts he shared with friends in April, making summer plans “for when COVID is over.”
