DAWSON CITY, YT – The 737 km highway stretch that connects Yukon to the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT will be renamed after the Canada Bread subsidiary and the territorial governments parted ways on sponsorship.
“When adventure-seekers drive down that lonely stretch of road from the breathtaking Tombstone Territorial Park to the unforgiving arctic tundra, we wanted them to think of Dempster’s White Bread, Multigrain, or Lite Rye,” said President of Canada Bread Fresh Bakery C. Barry McLean. “It’s unfortunate that we can no longer be the official sponsor of this critical connection.”
The territorial governments are looking for a more inspiring sponsor other than a bread company, such as toothpaste, yogurt, or any other grocery item.
The highway will remain open for residents, tourists, and anyone who wants chip in their windshield.
