Everyone loves crispy fries or creamy mash potatoes but this story might have you thinking twice next time you crave some potatoes. And no I’m not talking carbs.
Deb and Gord Russel operate a potato farm in Mount Albert, Ontario whose produce is sold in grocery stores all over Canada. Consumers were shocked that these potatoes were grown IN. THE. GROUND. And not like they were dropped in the dirt for 5 seconds then picked up and washed. They were deliberately and maliciously grown in the ground with dirt and sticks and probably like bugs and stuff. There are even reports that the farmers sometimes shovelled poop onto their potatoes.
“I want my potatoes grown in trees,” said Abbotsford resident Talbir Sunj, “like nature intended.”
Other people have taken to twitter to express their outrage such as @DuboisDubois “I’m disgusted by this!! luckily I don’t eat potatoes, only french fries”.
Deb and Gord Bussel have stated they have no plans to start growing the potatoes in a more hygienic location such as a kitchen or decommissioned hospital. When asked if they would like it if someone put a sandwich in the ground and made them eat it, Deb replied, “you don’t understand how agriculture works or even how plants grow”.
If you are unsure if you have purchased ground or ‘dirt’ potatoes many experts recommend coating them in purell before eating them.
At least this isn’t as bad the time some sickos made back bacon from pig corpses.
