TORONTO – A mysterious woman set off a firestorm of speculation yesterday when she exited the subway train at an unconventional stop, Museum Station*.
“I thought she must’ve missed her transfer onto the Bloor line at St. George,” said subway rider Adam Carson. “But then instead of waiting for the opposite train, I see her go for the exit!”
“She brushed by me, I assumed to get ahead of the rest of us but no, she gets off a whole stop early,” said Kirsten Gallows, a librarian at the Legislative Assembly. “She must work at the museum. I mean, what else is up there?”
Others expressed doubts based on her lack of adventure hat, cargo pants, or dust. Also, the witnesses could not confirm whether her purse contained fossil brushes or other accoutrement of museum work.
The woman didn’t speak during her ride so it is unknown whether or not she had a British accent.
TTC’s Chief Customer Officer Chris Upfold expressed concern about the incident becoming a trend. “Museum [Station] was designed only for the little feet of schoolchildren on a field trip once a year, not the wear and tear of regular traffic.”
At press time a woman matching her description was seen operating a hot dog cart at the corner of Bloor Street and Avenue Road.
