TORONTO – Canadian business magnate and television personality Kevin O’Leary is looking forward to beginning his internship at Business News Network next week.
“I’m just so excited to have my foot in the door of one of the top business networks in Canada,” said O’Leary as he searched for new “work clothes” in the clearance section of Mexx at the Eaton Centre.
“Normally we only take on interns if they’re studying as part of an accredited educational program,” said BNN production coordinator Kyle Beliveau. “But Kevin is just such a go-getter.”
Beliveau described O’Leary as “a know-it-all”, “naive”, and “entitled”, but noted that he himself was also “all piss and vinegar at that age.”
“I’m just really hoping this pans out into a job that allows me to have a life of my own,” said O’Leary as he clutched a blazer and some new shirts in line to the checkout counter. “I have enough saved I can be on my own for a while, but if they don’t hire me within a few months I’ll have to move back in with my parents, and I don’t want to do that. What if I meet a girl and want to bring her back?”
At press time, Jim Balsillie was thrilled to have finished his co-op placement at Microsoft Canada.
