Fantino thanks veterans for bravely sacrificing services so Canadians can have a free and balanced budget

OTTAWA – Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino made a public apology to veterans for showing up late to an important meeting, and also took the opportunity to thank them for their sacrifices and contributions towards the Conservative government’s fight to balance the budget by 2015.

“I apologize for my tardiness at the meeting with veterans’ groups” the minister told reporters from the foyer in front of the House of Commons. “There were a lot of Veterans Affairs offices to close down and I just lost track of time. In no way was this intended as a slight to those who have fought to keep Canada free from tyranny and deficit.”

Fantino stated that veterans can be proud that they continue their struggle to this day in order to guarantee that Canadians across the country can enjoy the freedom to spend more money.

Fantino closed his remarks by saying “our veterans have selflessly given everything in this great crusade: their bodies, their lives, their pensions, and now their government services, so that we may break even to have a strong majority government. The debt we owe them cannot be repaid, mostly because we’ve earmarked that money for more Economic Action Plan TV spots.”
