QUEBEC – The Quebec government is responding to an Ontario hospital’s efforts to lure Quebec doctors by an ad that attracts bigoted physicians.
“Ontario should not have waded into our provincial affairs” said Réjean Hébert, Quebec’s Minister of Health and Social Services. “Therefore, Quebec had to respond in kind. We know that some doctors are uncomfortable with their co-workers and patients wearing religious symbols because they are people of science.”
Hébert anticipates that thousands of doctors will move from Ontario to Quebec not only because of the provincial government’s sound ethics, but also because of its efficient health care system and well-maintained infrastructure.
