ATLANTA, GA – A CNN anchor described the sorry fate of the company she works for on Monday after watching it get barraged with protests by the public and the media for its coverage of the sentencing in the Steubenville high school football rape case.
Describing the criticism reporter Poppy Harlow received after expressing sympathy for the two football players sentenced to prison for raping a teenager, reporter Poppy Harlow said, “I’ve never experienced anything like it. It was incredibly emotional, incredibly difficult even for an anchor like me to watch what happened as this young brand that had such a promising future — a star TV network, very good internet presence — I literally watched as, it believes, its ratings fell apart.”
“When you listen to it and you realize they could lose viewers for days…”
At press time, Harlow was expressing grief for the Fox News Network after it received an outpour of criticism for exposing the victim’s name from the Steubenville rape case.
