CANADA – A disillusioned nation woke up this week to the grim reality that Barack Obama’s re-election victory does not make him the President of Canada.
“Wait, oh yeah,” the collective thoughts of over 20 million Canadians expressed this week as they realized the hope-inspiring, eloquent reformer whose policies are perfectly aligned with the average Canadian citizen is not their President.
“Shit,” they added.
Circulating photos of Barack Obama shaking hands with Stephen Harper solidified the growing sense that not only is Obama not our leader, but that our Prime Minister may in fact be the polar opposite of him.
“I had a sense something was wrong when The National, after airing a clip of Obama speaking about the joyous promise of a better tomorrow, cut to this guy who looked like a professional accounting textbook proofreader give a speech about the economic benefits of de-regulating the oil and gas industry,” said Jonathan Wallace of Regina.
The sobering wake-up call also highlights the fact that Romney’s defeat does absolutely nothing towards removing Harper from office.
