EDMONTON – Although he claims pride in the culture and traditions of the West, local man Eric Arlin mostly just seems to enjoy movies and TV shows written by Seth MacFarlane.
“It’s time the anglosphere stopped apologizing for its cultural superiority,” said Arlin, who spent ten hours this week laughing at jokes where the punchline is that the baby is gay. “Just look how we treat LGBT people.”
Arlin is quick to point to the enlightenment as proof of Occidental supremacy, despite being less acquainted with Candide than with, say, the Mark Wahlberg vehicle ted 2: thunder buddies for life.
While Eric spends hours online decrying what he sees as the culturally corrosive effects of multiculturalism, he insists he’s not racist, as he watched all of the Cleveland Show.
“It’s not about race, it’s about the Protestant Work Ethic,” said Arlin, watching a show where the writers decided to play that Conway Twitty song again, instead of writing jokes, dialogue, or scene descriptions.
But even though he loves MacFarlane’s body of work, Arlin’s voracious appetite for the Judeo-Christian canon also extends as far as South Park, Deadpool, and, of course, the Joe Rogan Experience.
At press time, Arlin had mixed feelings about Seth MacFarlane’s upcoming adaptation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
