Vancouver dollhouse sells for $200,000 above asking

VANCOUVER – The Walkers, a young family of 4, have finally found their perfect starter home after bidding $200,000 over asking on a dollhouse.

“Sure, it’s a bit smaller than we were hoping, and it is located inside the bedroom of a small child” said Chris Walker. “But you’ve got to get on the property ladder at some point.”

“Plus that bedroom is in a great neighbourhood.”

The 2.5sqft detached home, which ordinarily houses small plastic humans rather than large fleshy ones, had been the subject of a 3 month bidding war between over a dozen prospective buyers. The Walkers credit their realtor’s, Janice Cromwell, savvy business sense as the main reason they now have a place to live.

“If you ask me, it was a steal,” said Janice, her feet propped up on the Walker’s commission. “The Chinese billionaire who was selling wanted even more.”

The sale almost fell through after a property inspection revealed that a dog had been chewing on their equity, the Walkers elected to proceed. While friends and family are happy for the Walkers, they note that the house needs a bit of work.

“Yeah, it’s alright,” explained Dave, Chris’s co-worker. “I mean, the oven needs to be replaced, the toilets don’t seem to be connected to any sort of plumbing, and the missing wall means the entire west side of the house is completely exposed.”

“Lemme put it this way, it’s nowhere near as nice as the waterlogged cardboard box I got for $700,000 last year.”
