MONTREAL — Montreal metro riders on the new AZUR cars have already experienced a quicker rider thanks to the sharp, guillotine-like blades that slice away any potential delay blocking the doors.
The doors are powerful enough to cut through two inches of Titanium metal and are expected to improve STM services by a full 30 minutes per day.
“We’re delighted that the engineers who designed these trains were so sharp,” joked Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre to the media. “No longer will public transit users have to wait for that one passenger who jams the doors prompting an automated passive-aggressive announcement.”
I’m proud to say our infrastructure has cutting-edge technology,” added Coderre.
The new trains also feature a cow catcher to clear the tracks of any bodies.
