TORONTO – MRAs, Gamergate trolls and white men everywhere took to the internet this morning in an orchestrated attempt to “helpfully respond to” International Women’s Day by pointing out that, actually, all days matter.
“When you go out of your way to celebrate March 8, you ignore days that are JUST AS IMPORTANT, like March 7, March 9, and my birthday #AllDaysMatter” tweeted @madmaxxx
“When is International Men’s Day? #amiright #alldaysmatter” tweeted @zombieprez, expressing what he apparently thought was an original idea. The answer, by the way, is November 19.
The men appear to be outraged by what they see as society’s exaltation of International Women’s Day, while days that are near and dear to their heart, like the anniversary of when the Matrix was released or the annual commemoration of when they first drove a woman off twitter with personal attacks and threats of violence, go completely unnoticed.
“When a day is devoted solely to women, it can only be interpreted as a direct affront to men,” said local Men’s Rights Activist Jared Dillon. “I mean, are men intended to cease existing on March the 8th? I for one am against the misandrist notion that men should literally turn invisible or revert to some kind of quantum state, just to appease women. All days matter.”
Even prominent female celebrities have joined the cause. Katy Perry tweeted “it’s not about giving people days. It’s about love, and kindness, and loving kindness. #alldaysmatter #hearmeroar”
Given their success the movement was already planning their next campaign, a war on Ramadan that will use the hashtag #AllHolidaysMatter
