WHITEHORSE — Candles, empty bottles and cards expressing grief were quietly laid outside of Yukon Liquor Corporation’s store on 2nd Avenue to commemorate the memory of beer that will never be consumed.
A wave of sadness, guilt, and anger were expressed by locals at the senseless loss of drafts, ales, porters, pilsners, IPAs and wheat beers by being poured down the drain simply because they were expired.
“How could a tragedy like this ever happen?” mourned Sandy McCabe Jr. while he added a rose placed in an empty Sleeman’s bottle to the memorial. “Every beer has the right to be held, loved and chugged.”
According to sources, many in Whitehorse are concerned that some are coping with the loss by using alcohol.
