NEWPORT, WALES – After waiting over a decade, Prime Minister Stephen Harper will get his wish to send Canadian troops to Iraq.
“Canada can be proud to fight alongside with our US allies in the Coalition of the Willing,” Harper announced at the NATO Summit in Wales. “While our contingent is small to start with, we can expect our troops to fight the terrorists where they are rather than on our own soil. The world will only be secure when we find and destroy Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.”
Harper also laid blame on the previous Liberal government on its decision not invade Iraq; a decision he criticized as Leader of the Opposition in 2003.
“Had Canada participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom eleven-and-a-half years ago, this crisis today would have never happened,” said Harper while scorning the previous Chretien government.
At press time, Harper was hoping that once the Iraqi army is defeated, they could be retrained to deal with the next Ukrainian crisis.
