WASHINGTON – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged the United States to pull their troops out of Ferguson, criticizing the military occupation as “an inhumane and unnecessary show of force that has no place in modern society.”
“The Israeli government denounces this gross abuse of power that has put the lives of countless civilians in danger,” said Netanyahu at the United Nations in New York. “We simply cannot condone or support these actions that devalue the lives and liberties of the people of Ferguson. The United Nations must condemn this excessive use of weaponry against unarmed innocent civilians and both sides must find a diplomatic solution.”
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson were quick to respond to Israel’s criticism citing their sovereign right to defend themselves against unarmed black teenagers.
“We will not stop our deployment until the glass bottle launches against our homes and businesses end,” Chief Jackson said. “Our SWAT and National Guard teams have been instructed to give protesters a 15-second warning to flee before dispersing the rubber bullets and tear gas.”
The UN has criticized the US for policies that increase tensions, such as implementing curfews and then arresting citizens before the curfew begins. Israel has also pointed out the uneven nature of the conflict; two people have been killed by police, dozens injured and over 70 people have been captured while police only suffered four injuries. But Ferguson officials showed no signs of remorse.
“They will pay the ultimate price if they continue to resist,” Jackson added.
According to sources, diplomatic talks between the police and protesters are expected to begin next week in Ottawa to find a peaceful two-race solution.
