OTTAWA – After learning the news that Canadian actress Ellen Page, best known for her role in Juno, is gay, the nation agreed that it was ‘good’.
“I didn’t know she was gay but now I do,” Hamilton resident Ian Bartlow said in response to Halifax-born Page’s coming out publicly. “That’s better than her not telling people because she said she felt like she was hiding.”
While most of the nation’s reaction ranges between ‘fine’ and ‘pleasantly fine’, some believe the announcement may have international consequences.
“Maybe it will help what’s going on in Sochi,” Winnipeg resident Rachel Cater said. “I don’t know. Was Whip It a big deal in Russia?”
After glancing through the details of Page’s announcement online and browsing a few photos of the actress in the attached gallery, the nation then shared the article on their Facebook page, shrugged, and went back to playing Bejeweled.
