OTTAWA – Justin Trudeau’s removal of all Liberal senators from his caucus yesterday has officially freed the senators up to fully commit to their responsibilities of not really doing anything.
“This small step towards Senate reform has been a long time coming, before the NDP said to do it, before the pension scandal fallout made it easier to do it. The Senate is redundant if it’s serving political parties, and it’s time it gets back to doing what it was intended to do: nothing,” explained Trudeau, confidently miming a zero with his hands.
“It’s the dawn of a new day, and personally, I can’t wait to see how little these senators can achieve.”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this is really is a wonderful relief,” senator George Furey loudly gushed while ignoring a debate. “I haven’t felt free to get this little done in years. And I’m wholly in lockstep with Justin on this one, you need a non-partisan lack of process if you truly value the Senate’s lack of product. This is the redundant legislative body we’ve been waiting for”.
In one of their first acts of nothing, the ex-Liberal senators successfully formed a caucus and earned the right to be recognized as liberals.
