MONTREAL– The Assassin’s Creed video game received a massive update on their inventory of axes as UbiSoft Montreal invested all of their recent $373M on the one thing they do well.
“We are incredibly thankful that the Quebec government invested an additional $9.9M in our axe expansion program,” said Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto. “Plus, the tax incentives the Premier offered let us continue to milk the Assassin’s Creed franchise and the Quebec talent pool for all it is worth.”
One of the long-standing deficiencies for the Assasins Creed franchise, according to programmers, was their lack of axes in comparison to guns and other small hand to hand combat weapons.
Avid gamer Giovanni Estovario, 33, welcomed the news.
“I am sick of having the boarding axe,” Estovario opined. “It was nice to add the tomahawks in Assassin’s Creed 3. That was a great addition, and made a big difference when compared to Bartolomeo’s Axe from Assassin’s Creed 2. When Ezio Aduitore de Firenze is lopping off heads with the Almogavar Axe, nothing is better. I hope the investment improves the realism of the cutlases in Black Flag.”
UbiSoft used the influx of money to add 200 jobs, 175 of them weapons design specialists.
