TORONTO – The blockbuster 12-player trade agreement between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Miami Marlins, including the signing of Melky Cabrera, has led many citizens to realize that Toronto still has an active professional baseball team which meets and plays games.
“Huh, Toronto still has a team,” said local Leaf’s fan Adam Crowley, taking a break from contributing to a Hockey message board to read the sports page. “That’s cute. They have a website too. I should take my kid sometime to see Frank Thomas hit a homerun.”
“I hope this helps them win the World Baseball Cup this year,” said Mayor Rob Ford. “I wish them well.”
At press time, many in the city had already lost interest upon learning that Roberto Alomar has been retired for years, and that the skydome has been replaced by some kind of telecommunications organization.
