MISSISSAUGA — A Mississauga woman has won a $64,000,000 lottery jackpot, finally affording her the financial freedom to actually purchase property in Toronto.
The winner couldn’t believe her luck when she found out that she collected the largest lottery payout in Canadian history. “It’s amazing!” she said, holding an oversized cheque at a press conference outside the Petro Canada where she bought the ticket. “This is, like, what, half a house in the Annex? Five years of TTC fares? And I’m holding it in my hands!”
When asked how she plans to spend the money, the lucky player answered quickly. “I’m thinking I’ll buy a one bedroom condo near Yonge and Eglinton, and use what’s left for a couple of those cheesecakes no one will shut up about.”
“We just love to know that we’re making our winners’ dreams come true,” said Tom Peters, spokesperson for the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation. “And if your dream is to own a house within an hour’s commute of downtown Toronto – well, maybe winning can get you half the way there.”
