LONDON — UK fashion label KTZ is paying homage to Inuit peoples by offering them a 5% discount on all designer clothing that they have appropriated and sold for profit.
KTZ’s creative director Marjan Pejoski says that his fashion empire will offer this generous sale to the “primal” people who, in exchange, offered their land and sacred concepts of fashion.
“We’re having a blowout sale for our Tribal Winter Wear collection,” explained Pejoski. “This stylish men’s Shaman’s Toweling sweatshirt that sells for only $845 will be reduced to only $800. There’s no better way to pay homage to the thousands of years of customs with a bold sweatshirt from KTZ.”
While not a single Inuk fashion designer was consulted or compensated, KTZ thinks they should be thanked for featuring their designs.
“If it weren’t for us, they wouldn’t be chic,” added Pejoski.
For the more modern neo-colonialist gentlemen, KTZ says it is also pleased to offer exotic ‘curry infused’ turbans, and vibrant ‘safari’ print dashikis.
Meanwhile, KTZ’s models were honouring the Cree people while wearing a feather headdress and heel-toe Sundance Walk as they strutted down the runway.
