VANCOUVER – Responding to criticism from the weekly news magazine The Economist, the City of Vancouver held a press conference Tuesday to publicly decry the magazine’s lack of danger or excitement.
“Where’s the intrigue?” said one Vancouver resident about the London based publication. “When I pick up a magazine I want to feel like I might be taken on an adventure or told a compelling story. I tend to avoid financial magazines written by a group of identical, egg-headed Oxford grads.”
“I guess if I was looking to impress my father in-law, I might leave the magazine on my coffee table,” another added.
Vancouverites reported being thoroughly bored with the publication’s stale stories on Colombian draft dodgers, constant discussion of the monetary policy of the European Union, and the editors overuse of the word ‘gambit’.
Responding to the The Economist’s stated desire for cities to return to more dangerous times, Vancouver then invited the entire editorial board to take a quick trip over to nearby Surrey.
