TORONTO – Following their best start in team history, the Atlantic Division leading Raptors spent yesterday donating money and resources to Toronto’s poor, needy NHL hockey team.
“It feels good to give back,” said all-star point guard Kyle Lowry. “Some sports teams get down on their luck but it’s not their fault. They just need a little help from the community to get back on their feet.”
Raptors players also spent time mentoring the wide eyed Maple Leafs kids, teaching them about things like passing, teamwork, and introducing them to the basic concept of defence.
”Mr. [Patrick] Patterson taught me how to stop just giving the puck to the other team when they ask for it,” said little Jakey Gardiner. “When I grow up I want to be just like him!”
The Raptors have also donated $10,000 to the Blue Jays so they can finally put real grass on the field.
