HAMILTON — This past Saturday an amateur musician attending an Open Mic Night at Dooney’s Pub was ready to blow the crowd away with his personal rendition of Green Day’s “Time of Your Life” on his acoustic guitar.
In an interview before his set, Todd Rodman gushed, “I can’t wait to see their faces during the verse when I sing the harmony instead of the melody. And on one of the choruses, I kind of just riff on the ‘time of your life’ line for a while — I just sort of play with the words, explore them, see where they take me.”
Rodman says that his original version of this song “comes from the soul” and captures what Billie Joe Armstrong was trying to articulate, but in his own down to earth way.
At press time, Rodman was mid-way through his set and the general mood of the crowd could be described as “tolerant.”
